Hello! Thank you for visiting my home on the World-Wide Wait.
This site contains samples of my work (and links thereto) that ought to accredit me personally and professionally, as well as links to other noteworthy things.
But, presumably, you clicked on a link to this page because you wanted to know a little bit about me, so I'll try not to disappoint you.
Who I Am
Geopolitically, I am Spanish by birth, Texan by appointment, and a prospective Swiss by choice.
Culturally, I am Catalonian by accident, and a Midwesterner by conviction; please don't hold that against me.
Ethnically, I am a Western Basque and Northern Spaniard, so Stephen Oppenheimer would classify me as a Celt — but you don't really care about that, do you?
What I “Done” (and Sometimes Still Do)
I studied physics but went on to make a living [sic] as an IT consultant and manager before accepting early retirement and learning to live again. Better late than never, I suppose! Whatever comes next, I'm sure it's going to be great. ^_^
What I Said (and Sometimes Still Say)
Here are some things I have said, or tend to say, that others have judged noteworthy and/or tiresome.
- I keep my enemies at arm's-length and my friends at bay.
- (2007) devised as a tagline for my accounts on various so-called social networking websites, where public bookmarks and lists of friends are probably a liability
- Trust is an optimization.
- (2007) spewed dismissively in the context of discussing the consequences of making trust a precondition
- What I am trying to suggest is…
- (mid 1990's) admitting frustration at my failure to educate you using the Socratic method; seldom uttered nowadays, as I don't care to educate anybody but myself
- Escribe con pluma pero con pausa.
- (early 1990's) regarding a relative's penmanship; alluding to the set phrase "despacio pero sin pausa"; never written nowadays, as nobody sends me hand-written letters
